Troubleshooting

A button looks available but does not open

1. Close any dialogue, newspaper or overlapping menu.
2. Check whether the game is paused.
3. Confirm that a law or decree has not closed the market or location.
4. Try closing the current panel with Escape and reopening it.

The game prevents ordinary town menus from opening while the Map Room is active.

I cannot select a route

• Confirm that the route connects to your current town.
• Check whether it is greyed out by a lock or road-closure decree.
• Click the destination marker to let the Map Room auto-select a valid route.
• If the route is black, inspect the message: unlocked black routes may simply be unreachable from your current location.

The custom cursor is missing

• Move the cursor outside the game window and back in.
• Toggle between windowed and fullscreen mode in Settings.
• Close overlays that replace or capture the system cursor.
• Restart the game if the cursor failed to initialize when the window lost focus during launch.

Audio continues or sounds incorrect

Return fully to the main menu and check the Music and Sound Effects sliders. Auction ambience should only be audible while visiting the auction. If scene audio continues after returning to the main menu, include that detail in a bug report.

A menu is behind the logo or another panel

Settings and pause menus should appear above main-menu art and ordinary gameplay panels. Close and reopen the panel once; if its layer remains wrong, report the screen and the menu that was open immediately beforehand.

A saved game looks wrong

• Verify that you selected the intended autosave or manual slot.
• Note the displayed year, season, Respect title and timestamp.
• Do not overwrite the affected slot before reporting a reproducible load problem.

The game saves tutorial, politics, inventory, travel and progression state. Reopening a newspaper should not advance a policy twice.

Text overlaps or runs outside a panel

Record the screen resolution, UI panel and exact text. Screenshots are especially useful for save slots, newspaper columns, rumours and auction dialogue.

Performance is poor in the evening

• Lower the quality level or resolution in Settings.
• Close heavy background applications.
• Try fullscreen mode.
• Include your operating system and hardware description in a report.

The game is designed to preserve the same visuals while reducing unnecessary evening workload, so severe phase-specific slowdown is worth reporting.

The game appears stuck after a tutorial

Press Space or Enter to ensure the final dialogue page has closed. Then look for a pulsing action. Optional information such as the Merchant Standing quill does not block evening travel.
