About

Hi, I’m the developer behind Typical Tuesday Games.

A solo game studio in The Hague, the Netherlands.

Typical Tuesday Games is a one-person studio based in The Hague, the Netherlands.

My background is in economics, and I’ve always loved games with deep economic systems. What I didn’t love was how often that depth became inaccessible because the economy felt more like a spreadsheet than a world.

Merchant Miles came from wanting to keep the interesting parts of economics, such as supply, demand, imperfect information, and trade-offs, while making them intuitive and, most importantly, fun.

Instead of selling through a menu, you stand behind a market stall. Newspapers reveal shortages and surpluses, laws change the rules, and rumours or contracts may send you down a different road. Customers react to your prices, rivals chase opportunities of their own, and food does not stay fresh forever. The economy is still deep, but you experience it through places, people, and decisions you can understand.

How I work

01

Keep it intuitive.

The player should be able to understand what’s happening through the world, not by studying a spreadsheet.

02

Keep the depth.

Making a system easier to read shouldn’t mean taking away the interesting choices.

03

Make it fun first.

The economics matter, but only because they create decisions, surprises, and stories worth playing through.
