Frequently Asked Questions

Why did my Fair price change during the market?

Why did my Fair price change during the market?

Why did I earn less profit than the coins I collected?

Revenue is not profit. The report subtracts the recorded cost of the units sold, permits, applicable travel costs and other losses. See Market Reports and Profit.

Why did identical goods use different barrels?

Perishable goods with different freshness values cannot stack. Goods with the same freshness can stack regardless of source. Non-perishable goods of the same type can also stack across sources.

When do goods spoil?

The purchase day does not immediately count against freshness. A good on its final usable market day spoils that evening and appears in the report.

Why will a customer not buy a demanded good?

Demand improves the opportunity but does not remove budgets or price sensitivity. The customer may dislike the price, want a smaller quantity or have already seen the town receive enough of that good.

Can the fair price change inside an order?

No. The unit price shown on the purchase confirmation or customer shopping list is fixed for that order. A following order may use a new price.

Why is a route black?

An unlocked black route is not connected to your current town. You can inspect it, but you cannot travel on it from where you are. A greyed route is locked or closed.

What happens when a route is risky?

Risk creates a chance that one to three units of cargo are stolen. If theft occurs, a notification appears on the arrival morning and names what was lost.

Are rumours always true?

No. They indicate a possible future change or rival plan. Use the tooltip to understand the implication, then compare it with other evidence.

Why is an old notebook price different from today's price?

Goods pages preserve the last fair price observed during your visit. They are historical notes, not live quotations.

Why can I not avoid a purchase limit by using another supplier?

Political limits are shared across public markets, producers, wholesalers and auctions in the affected town.

When is the Merchant Notebook introduced?

It appears during early demo progression and pulses until first opened. If ignored, Marlow reminds you after two later mornings; the morning it unlocked does not count.

What ends the demo?

Reaching Respect 3 at 40 total XP unlocks Highbridge and triggers Old Marlow's conclusion and the end-of-demo card.

Are contracts in the demo?

No. Contract systems remain part of the broader game, but contract content and tutorials are outside the current demo scope.

How do I hide the demo watermark?

Press Alt + F1.

How do I report a problem?

Pause the game and select Report Bugs. See Reporting a Bug.
